Jammu 26 April: Former MLA and senior leader Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar has urged the government to provide financial assistance to compensate businesses and people, particularly daily wagers, during the complete lockdown in view of COVID-19 outbreak.
In a statement Jabbar urges
the government to clear pending wages of daily wagers and other economically weaker section of employees.
Mr Jabbar said that the patients of chronic illnesses, cancer patients, dialysis patients and others are stuck between the devil and the deep sea, as they need to visit the hospital often, but are unable to do so now owing to the lack of transport, lack of money and closure of their Golden cards. He said that especially suffering in the current situation are kidney patients requiring dialysis on alternate days.
He further said that the with most government hospitals dedicated to treating coronavirus cases, Private hospitals, which provide free dialysis under healthcare schemes have not been able to provide these treatments citing a lack of staff.
He urged the government to provide financial assistance as per the government health schemes as thousands of patients are unable to bear the cost of dialysis, transportation and medicine.
Mr Jabbar further said that the majority of daily wagers , contingent paid employees, causal labours, seasonal labours, HDF employees were serving the people at this difficult time and were fighting COVID19 by putting their lives at risk when everybody was under fear. “Any more delay to clear their wages will be total injustice with them,” Jabbar added.
