CBI officials on Sunday took custody of DHFL Promoters Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan in connection with the Yes Bank case. The Wadhawans, who are presently in Mahabaleshwar at their ancestral farmhouse, have been taken into custody by the CBI team from Delhi.
CBI had on March 7 registered a case against Yes Bank founder Rana Kapoor and the Wadhawan's in connection with suspicious loans granted to DHFL and alleged quid pro quo to Kapoor's family companies.
Despite multiple summons addressing the Wadhawans, the brothers failed to appear before both the agencies, following which non-bailable warrants were issued by a CBI court in Mumbai against the two.
The duo had been untraceable and CBI had launched a search to apprehend them.
On Sunday, the announcement that CBI had taken the custody of Wadhawans was made on Twitter by Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh.
He said, “A CBI team has taken both Kapil and Dhiraj Wadhwan into custody. Satara Police has given them all required assistance & an escort vehicle with 1+3 guard up to Mumbai on a written request. The arrest procedures are going on.”
